استيقظت اليوم باكراً ..وتناولت الفطور وحدي.. ثم جلست إلى جهاز الكومبيوتر وأنا أمني نفسي بساعات من العمل دون إزعاج من أحد.. وخاصة أن الوقت ما زال مبكراً والجميع نائمون .. وما هي إلا دقائق قليلة حتى شعرت بصوت خربشة وصوصوة يعكر علي هدوء هذا الصباح فانتبهت لأجد في زاوية المكتب قفصاً صغيراً وبداخله صوص صغير(كتكوت) لونه أصفر شاحب ..فتذكرت أخي [...] -

While I fully agree with many points you raise, I think that you also agree that what you described is just part of the picture… a considerable part nonetheless. The economic lens you use is solid, however, one would need to apply a social one at the same time to get the full picture.
I would argue that the grim picture you paint is not the complete one, neither of Aleppo nor of Syria ...

The American political system remains unable to produce such a democratic opportunity.
The Cheney/Bush Administration (no, it's not the Bush/Cheney Administration) goes on committing crime after crime but here is how Nancy Pelosi sums up her voluntary cowardice shamelessly: "You can't talk about impeachment unless you have the facts, and you can't have the facts unless you have cooperation from the Administration." Just imagine an Administration willing to cooperate in order to chop off its own head!!!

السلطات السورية تعتقل زوجات معتقلين إسلاميين منذ الشهر الماضي وترفض الكشف مصيرهن أو مكان احتجازهن
موقع أخبار الشرق – الاثنين 18 آب/ أغسطس 2008
ما تزال السلطات السورية مصرة على رفضها الكشف عن مصير ثلاث نساء من زوجات المعتقلين الإسلاميين اعتقلن نهاية الشهر الماضي بدون إبداء الأسباب.
وتقيم السيدات الثلاث في منطقة العتيبة، وهي قرية تقع على مسافة 20 كيلومتراً تقريباً شرقي دمشق، وهن زوجات لرجال معتقلين حالياً بناء على اتهام السلطات لهم بالانتماء إلى جماعات إسلامية تخطط لأعمال عنف. ولم تفصح السلطات عن سبب احتجاز السيدات أو أماكن احتجازهن، وما إذا كانت تعتزم نسب أية اتهامات إليهن.
